Robert Ditmar

1945-2020

Robert Alan Ditmar, born October 2, 1945, left this world unexpectedly on March 15, 2020.

Bob leaves behind his beloved wife of 54 years, Nancy (Sadowski) Ditmar, his daughter Amy and her husband Jeff (Stevens) and their children Jessica and Nathan. His son Michael and his wife Elizabeth (Pursley) and their children Jack and Sylvia. Bob is also survived by all of his siblings, Thomas, Sally and Mary, several nieces and nephews, and many, many friends.

Bob was the model for what a man should aspire to be. Kind, compassionate, dedicated, loyal, handsome, and loving. He loved fixing and tinkering, too.

Bob was born and raised in Michigan. After graduating from Central High School in Grand Rapids, Bob proudly served in the United States Army from 1966 to 1969. Bob then attended Aquinas College, graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree. After college, Bob ran various manufacturing areas of the Amway Corporation, including the development of their Contract Packaging business. He then went on to become a leader in the Contract Packaging industry. The last 20 years of his career were with the Korex Corporation, running the Wixom, Michigan and Toronto, Canada facilities. After retiring, Bob and his wife moved to Palm Coast, Florida. This allowed Bob to pursue some of his greatest passions; the game of golf and traveling with Nancy.

Although Bob was committed to his career, his greatest accomplishment was his family. He spent the last 54 years with the love of his life, and best friend, Nancy. Together, they raised two beautiful kids, traveled, celebrated their lives, and doted on their grandchildren. Bob was very proud and committed to his children and grandchildren, and all their achievements. He enjoyed watching them grow, coaching them on and off the field, and attending their many sporting events.

Bob loved without hesitation, adored his wife and family completely, and made them his highest priority. Those who were lucky enough to know him and love him will greatly miss him.

Currently, family and friends are unable to come together to celebrate Bob’s life, but using this site, we can, virtually. Please use the 'Messages' page to add a message or memory of our beloved, Bob. We really appreciate all of the thoughts and prayers and want to hear all about how Bob may have touched your life.

The background picture used on this site is a picture of Oak Pointe Country Club's Honors Course, specifically the pond near the 18th tee box. This was a special place for Bob, where he and Nancy built a home in 1994 and would meet several of their lifelong friends and share many wonderful memories in and around the game of golf.
